Fernando Pérez Méndez is a PhD candidate working under the supervision of Dr. Tim Flack. His project advisor is Dr. Mark Ainslie. He started his PhD in October 2016 sponsored by the Mexican Secretary of Energy, previously he did a MSc In Materials for Energy and Environment at University College London and a bachelor in Mechatronics Engineering at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León. He is interested in the development of applications of Bulk Superconductors that could be implemented in the industry.

Fernando is also a member of the alumnus network of the National Council of Science and Technology of Mexico (CONACyT).

Research

Fernando’s research focusses on the numerical modelling of bulk superconductors for their use in axial-gap, trapped flux-type superconducting rotating machines.
